Stevie Wonder, Maroon Women and “Frontpage”
Hooray and Hallelujah,
Happy Holidays, Happy Kwanzaa, Joy to the World and Peace on Earth!
We all know, about Mr. Stevie Wonder, the Legendary Man of Music and the powerful Social Activist. For those who don’t know, Mr. Wonder also, owns a Radio Station on the West Coast, it is FM 102.3 KJLH, which stands for :”KINDNESS, JOY, LOVE and HAPPINESS. The station is composed of 24 hours of ,Contemporary Urban Music, Gospel, News (analysis and discussion) and 5 days a week ,from 4:30 am to 6:00 am. it is the home of “Frontpage”. Frontpage is the Peabody Award winning # 1 morning Talk Show, heard by the Southern California African-American Community.
Frontpage, is known and heard around the World, on KJLH.COM. I have personal knowledge of KJLH, as a Regular Caller, over the last 3 years, I have been heard over 80 times. It is normally hosted by Ms. Dominic Diprima, who is the daughter of the great poet, Amira Baraka (dec.). Today, when, I spoke, on air, the show was, hosted by Ms. Angela Hoffman and Ms. Cameron Green. Below, is an approximate transcript of my, on-air statement:
” There is important news coming out of the Caribbean, concerning ,Maroon Women and their Communities, in Jamaica, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago. I’ve been in communication with Dr. Fidelia Graand-Galon, the Suriname Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago and because, I am a North American Maroon Descendant, documented by the Smithsonian Institution, it is a logical expectation, that I would help to inform the public in the U.S., about, the, “Memorandum of Cooperation” between Maroon Communities in the Americas”. This “Memorandum of Cooperation”, will focus on the Social, Cultural and Economic Development using Maroon Principles. We have an opportunity to re-tell History through the lives of those who, banded together and won their Freedom during Slavery”.
I, was heard between 5:50 am and 6:00 am, during the peak drive-time listener slot and I followed Dr. Maulana Karenga, the famous and brilliant Cultural Activist, Scholar and Educator, who is the “Father of the Kwaanza Celebration.
“Through Warm Tears of Gratitude”, Phil “Pompey Bruner” Fixico, Seminole Maroon Descendant.
